Yves Saint Laurent Files Trademark Application to Exhibit NFTs

On top of showcasing luxury shoes and makeup, Yves Saint Laurent is looking to exhibit NFT and metaverse initiatives this year

Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on January 12, 2023, for its name and logo to enter the metaverse and NFT space.

Quick Take:

  • Yves Saint Laurent intends to offer virtual goods in the metaverse and other virtual environments via NFTs.
  • The French luxury fashion retailer also plans to create a virtual store on-chain.

Yves Saint Laurent’s Web3 Showroom

Yves Saint Laurent is starting the new year right, focusing on innovation by filing a trademark application to the USPTO. One that focuses on the beauty of Web3—and, of course, its clients.

YSL will soon offer virtual makeup, skincare, perfumery, and hair care products. All goods will be available for use in the metaverse and other virtual environments.

As a consequence, the brand will create downloadable multimedia files through NFTs. These digital assets will consist of illustrations, text, music, and videos that open the doors to such virtual products.

Another plan includes opening its online sales services to sell these virtual goods on the blockchain.

As other luxury fashion brands, like PradaDiesel, and Lacoste, join Web3, its no wonder Saint Laurent also wants to shine on-chain.

This trademark application is yet another example of the importance of big brands delving into Web3 innovation to stay ahead of time.
